Catherine Young is a writer and performing artist whose work is infused with a keen sense of place. She is author of the ecopoetry collection Geosmin, and her memoir of place Black Diamonds, Blue Flames is forthcoming from Torrey House Press. Trained in Environmental Science and Geography, Young has worked as a national park ranger, farmer, mother, and educator before completing her MFA in creative writing at UBC Vancouver. Her writing is published in journals nationally and internationally and in the anthology The Driftless Reader and has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best American Essays. Rooted in farm life, Young lives with her family in Wisconsin’s Driftless Area.
