Stay informed about the issues and ideas that matter with the Wisconsin Academy’s quarterly magazine of contemporary Wisconsin thought and culture. Wisconsin People & Ideas publishes fiction and poetry from Wisconsin writers, highlights new works from artists and photographers from across the state, and covers science and environmental issues that affect our people, lands, and waters. The magazine also hosts annual fiction and poetry contests that award cash prizes up to $500, publication in the magazine, a reading at the Wisconsin Book Festival, and more.
Since 1954, the independent Wisconsin People & Ideas magazine has been a trusted resource for people who care about the issues and ideas that shape life in Wisconsin. Wisconsin People & Ideas is available at Wisconsin Academy events and exhibitions as well as selected bookstores, and is delivered quarterly to Wisconsin Academy members and libraries across the state.
Single copies and back issues of Wisconsin People & Ideas also are available at our Steenbock Building offices in Madison, the James Watrous Gallery, or from the Wisconsin Academy online store for $5 per issue (plus $2 s/h). You can browse and search back issues of the magazine since 2009 on our website. A complete digital archive of issues published to 2008 can be found at the University of Wisconsin Digital Collection's State of Wisconsin Collection.
