Spencer Schumacher is the owner of a boutique Real Estate Brokerage in Middleton, Wisconsin. He received his BS from the University of Florida in Wildlife Ecology and his MS in Urban and Regional Planning with a Natural Resources and Environmental Planning specialty from the University of Wisconsin. As a citizen and a business owner in Middleton, Schumacher has worked for years to make all aspects of his life as sustainable as possible. He is a proud member of 1% for the Planet and donates 1% of his gross revenue to local environmental nonprofits.
Sustainability is one of the guiding principles for the City of Middleton and most decisions are made through a sustainable lens. Schumacher has served on the City of Middleton’s Sustainability Committee since 2012 and has been the chair since 2014. During his time on the committee, they created Middleton’s first permanent recycling center and innovative community shared solar power project. The committee also implemented a sustainable purchasing plan, initiated a toilet rebate and water audit program, and passed two referenda on climate change.
