  • Magazine

Nancy Bauer-King is a retired United Methodist clergywoman who wrote sermons for 25 years. A life-long resident of Wisconsin, Bauer-King has lived much of her long life in the southern part of the state. Both sets of her grandparents were farmers, and, though their farms have succumbed to a strip mall and an ethanol plant, Bauer-King retains her formative rural values. Today she is enjoying exploring genres beyond the sermonic, and is grateful for the encouragement and resources of Red Oak Studio in West Allis in this exploration. Her poem "Head Cheese" won third place in the 2016 Wisconsin People & Ideas Poetry Contest.
