John Hitchcock is an artist, musician, and Professor of Art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Professor Hitchcock has also served as UW’s Faculty Director of The Studio Learning Community and Graduate Chair of the Department of Art. He is an award-winning, internationally exhibited artist who uses the print medium, with its long history of commenting on social and political issues, to explore his relationships to community, land, and culture. Hitchcock’s prints, paintings, and drawings are based on childhood memories and stories of growing up in the Wichita Mountains of Oklahoma on Comanche Tribal lands next to the field artillery military base Fort Sill.
