J Myszka Lewis is a visual artist working across printmaking, fiber arts, and sculpture. Her work exposes tensions between the industrial and the individual, and addresses conceptions of certainty, familiarity, stability, and labor. In addition to her individual studio practice, Lewis is also one third of SPOOKY BOOBS, a feminist collaborative that uses art, language, and design to visualize the trivialization of women’s experiences.
Lewis received her BFA from UW-Milwaukee in 2010 and her MFA from UW-Madison in 2015. A nationally exhibiting artist, she has rparticipated in exhibitions at the International Print Center New York in New York City, the Charles Allis Art Museum in Milwaukee, the Soap Factory in Minneapolis, and the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend, among others. She was a finalist for a Luminarts Cultural Foundation Visual Arts Fellowship and has been published in Studio Visit magazine. In 2018 she received the Edna Wiechers Art in Wisconsin Award from UW-Madison’s Division for the Arts. J Myszka Lewis is currently based in Madison and is a curator at Tandem Press.
