Holly Cohn grew up in a family who valued all forms of art and with a father who was a wizard with words. Her paintings and small metal pieces have been exhibited in galleries and museums both regionally and nationally. She received her BA in art from Grinnell College and her MFA in metalsmithing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has been teaching jewelry and metalsmithing at Madison College for 35 years, and has taught drawing, color, and metals at Lawrence University. Cohn lives in Madison, where she maintains a painting studio in her home and a shared studio space for her metalwork. Her recent work includes structured paintings with multiple components. She considers her work to be visual poetry.
