Greg Wright is a writer and former high school writing instructor with a Master’s degree from Stanford University in policy, organization, and leadership studies. A series of unpredicted life choices led Wright to his current work as the Executive Director of CREATE Portage County, a nonprofit arts advocacy and creative placemaking organization focused on improving the quality of life in central Wisconsin. In 2015, Milwaukee Biz Times named Wright the "Innovator to Watch” for the arts in Wisconsin.
CREATE invests in public art and placemaking to connect community to identity, infrastructure and programming to connect innovators to resources, and events and experience to connect people to community. As a creative himself, Wright knows firsthand the value of community resources that support the arts, innovation, and creativity, and he is specifically focused on small-town applications of urban community development models to showcase how well-suited smaller communities are for what's best of life in the 21st century.
