Emily Belknap

Emily Belknap is an interdisciplinary artist working in a broad range of media and techniques. She received her MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013 and her BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2007. In her work, Belknap examines boundaries in landscape, constructed and natural, tangible and immaterial. Her drawing practice emerged out of creating preparatory drawings for future sculptures. She now creates drawings as finished works of art to be reproduced in artist books. Belknap’s recent exhibition history includes the Mary L. Nohl Fellowship exhibition at Inova Gallery in Milwaukee (2015) and a solo exhibition at the Chazen Museum of Art in Madison (2013), in addition to group exhibitions in Chicago, Milwaukee, and Madison. Belknap currently teaches sculpture at The Chicago High School for the Arts and maintains a studio in Cedarburg.
