Craig Blietz lives and works in northeast Wisconsin and is recognized for his paintings representing American agrarian landscapes. Blietz is a graduate of the University of Denver and Harrington College of Design. He continued his art studies with four years of academic training at the School of Representational Art in Chicago. Blietz also studied privately with Chicago artists Fred Berger, Richard Halstead, and John Rush. Extended travel in Europe and the United States has expanded Blietz's knowlege of traditional animal and landscape painting.
As of 2019 Blietz's work has been the subject of nineteen solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions throughout the Midwest. Retrospective exhibitions of his work have been mounted at St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin (2002), the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin (2013), and the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend, Wisconsin (2018). A substantial monograph, Craig Blietz: Eight Years of Pastoral Dreaming, was published in conjunction with the Miller Art Museum exhibition.
