
Alfred Bader is the founder and former chairman of Aldrich Chemical Company in Milwaukee. Bader was born in Vienna, Austria, and received degrees from Queen’s University in Ontario and Harvard University, as well as honorary degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Purdue University, the University of Sussex, and Northwestern University. Among his credits are many patents and publications related to chemistry. He has long been interested in Old Master paintings and currently operates an art gallery in Milwaukee (Alfred Bader Fine Arts, established in 1961). Bader is a fellow if the Royal Society of Arts in Britain. He has written two autobiographies, Adventures of a Chemist Collector (1995) and Chemistry & Art: Further Adventures of a Chemist Collector (2009).
