Stoughton sculptor Aristotle Georgiades uses thick industrial felt combined with other materials to make objects reminiscent of traditional tools or working objects and related hardware. His art reflects upon the nature and value of humankind’s physical labor. Karen Gunderman, a sculptor from Mequon, creates site specific wall compositions in stoneware that correlate botanical and anatomical forms to seek similarities between life cycles of flora and the human body. Her work is often inspired by 17th century scientist/illustrators who were the first to peer with microscopes beneath the surface of life forms.
