Gerit Grimm was born and grew up in Halle, German Democratic Republic. In 1995 she finished her apprenticeship as a potter, learning the traditional German trade at the “Altbürgeler blau-weiss GmbH” in Bürgel, and then worked as a Journeyman for Joachim Jung in Glashagen.

In her magnificently detailed and inventive paintings, Gina Litherland's work recalls fifteenth-century Sienese painting, although her incongruous scenes also reflect the tradition of Midwest surrealism and magic realism.
