Join Mary Burns, Madeline Grace Martin, and Wisconsin Academy staff to celebrate the exhibitions Women and Water: Woven Portraits from Around the World and Of Words and Trees: A Collaboration with My Father at the James Watrous Gallery. These paired solo exhibitona will be on view from November 24, 2023 through February 4, 2024.

Artists’ talks begin at 6:30 pm.

Free and open to the public. Light refreshments available.

Mary Burns

Mary Burns (Mercer) is an award-winning fiber artist and master weaver. Mary’s Ancestral Women exhibition features woven portraits of an elder from each of Wisconsin’s twelve Native tribes along with twelve complementary weavings.

Madeline Grace Martin

Madeline Grace Martin (Milwaukee) is an artist and educator. She creates work using watercolor, embroidery, pencil drawings, and hand-cut paper to honor intergenerational and community stories.
