Menomonie forum plants the seed
About 100 people from many walks of life were on hand for May 23 Future of Farming and Rural Life in Wisconsin Forum at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie. This page contains information and resources from that forum.
It was the first of six forums held around the state in this project of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters. The 18-month project seeks to engage state residents in developing a vision for healthy and sustainable agriculture and rural life in the state.
The theme of the Menomonie forum was "Expanding Agriculture-Based Markets and Enterprises in Wisconsin: Opportunities and Constraints." It focused on food systems, innovation and other key topics in the Future of Farming project.
Forum co-chairs were Margaret Krome, policy program director at the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute in East Troy, Wisconsin.
Brent McCown, director of the Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
