The Wisconsin Idea at the Wisconsin Academy is a public policy program that brings Wisconsin residents together with a diverse array of experts and stakeholders to find solutions to statewide problems. The program's current initiative, "The Future of Farming and Rural Life in Wisconsin," is exploring the state's potential for economic and sustainable growth through agriculture. This multi-year study examines the current status and trends in agriculture and rural life, explores constraints and opportunities, and develops specific action and policy recommendations which will lead to a more sustainable, diverse, and economically viable future for Wisconsin's agriculture sector and rural communities.
The
Voices of Rural Wisconsin Project is now underway! The Voices of Rural Wisconsin Project is a partnership between Portal Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters. Working together, we hope to share the stories, thoughts, and histories of the state's rural population. This expanding digital audio collection of authentic and authoritative voices, collected by writer and reporter Bill Berry, represents a rich cross-section of Wisconsinites who work, love, and live for the land. We hope you will utilize this resource as a means to connect with and better understand Wisconsin's rural citizens.
