Sandra Barnidge is the Editor of the Wisconsin People & Ideas magazine. She’s a longtime freelancer for On Wisconsin magazine and other nonprofits, and her speciality is crafting thoughtful bios of scientists, entrepreneurs, artists, and change makers. Originally from Beloit, Wisconsin, she holds a B.A. and M.A. in journalism and mass communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She also earned an MFA in creative writing from the University of Alabama, and her fiction is centered on small towns, working-class women, and environmental themes. Her debut novel is forthcoming from Belle Point Press (2025), and her short fiction has appeared in several literary journals. Though she currently lives with her husband and two young daughters in central Alabama, she still considers Wisconsin to be her home place, and she’s passionate about showcasing the state’s inspirational people, places, and ideas to the rest of the world.
