Erika Janik is a freelance writer and the executive producer/editor of Wisconsin Life at Wisconsin Public Radio. She is the author of many books, including A Short History of Wisconsin (Wisconsin Historical Society Press, 2010), Apple: A Global History (Reaktion Books, 2011), and the newly published Marketplace of the Marvelous: The Strange Origins of Modern Medicine (Beacon Press, 2014). Janik’s work has appeared in Isthmus, The Onion, Midwest Living, the Wisconsin Magazine of History, Wisconsin Natural Resources magazine, the Wisconsin State Journal, and in the book Renewing the Countryside: Wisconsin (University of Wisconsin Press, 2007).
