Deborah Gilpin

Deborah Gilpin was appointed President & CEO of the Madison Children’s Museum (MCM) in July 2013. Since arriving at MCM, Gilpin has led the completion of 2020Vision—the museum’s 5 year strategic plan, launched a debt reduction campaign which has secured over $1.3 million, and initiated a large scale facility plan to stabilize and leverage the physical site and related resources. The facility earned LEED gold Existing Building Certification in 2014—the only museum in Wisconsin to do so.

Gilpin previously served as President/CEO of the Children’s Museum of Phoenix from 2004-2013. She executed the grand opening of the museum with 85 employees and an annual budget of $2.8million. The 55,000 square feet historic landmark facility opened to great fanfare in June 2008 as the first-of-its-kind children’s museum in Arizona.

She currently serves on the board of Aldo Leopold Nature Center. Gilpin grew up in the Schenk/Monona neighborhood, and went to High School in McFarland. She now lives in Cottage Grove with her 18 year old son.
